Nick’s work focuses on using design to bridge the gap between emerging technologies and real-world products.
For over 25 years, Nick has used a broad spectrum of design approaches (including sketching, physical and digital prototyping, film-making, writing, model making, illustration, photography, animation and more) to rapidly convert early-stage speculations into believable, testable realities which quickly drive teams towards meaningful decisions.
Nick specializes in positioning evolving engineering concepts alongside emerging behaviors, cultural shifts and the messy realities of product development. Through his career, he’s been responsible for shaping the foundational product architectures, strategies and future-oriented initiatives of some of the world’s most influential companies. Nick’s work is often provocative and critical, helping technology organizations take more responsibility for their work, build enduring resilience in their ideas and present their propositions with an appropriate level of rigor.
A designer with deep technical fluency, Nick moves easily across disciplines - frequently collaborating with strategists, foresight experts, engineers, scientists, investors and marketers. Equally at home advising, leading teams or working independently, he’s known for setting clear visions and building ambition, while maintaining a strong connection to the unavoidable complexities of human life.
For writing projects, Nick is represented by Antony Topping at Greene & Heaton and Zoë Pagnamenta at Calligraph.
For public speaking, Nick is represented by Macmillan Speakers Bureau, and Deborah Rey-Burns at Propela.
